About

What is Redd Inc?
Redd Inc is an independent horror movie set for release in October 2012 in Australia, November 2012 in Japan and later in other territories.

Redd Inc. – the story
Redd Inc. is the story of a capricious, officious and vicious boss (Redd) who traps his victims and forces them to work in an horrific office of his own insane creation. They are tasked with a seemingly impossible job which they must complete or face a grisly “termination”.

The Team
Redd Inc. is created by Green Light Productions Pty Limited based in Sydney Australia. The production company has created film and television programs since 1993 and is owned and managed by Redd Inc. co-writer and producer Jonathon Green.

Act 1 and Act 2
We ran two creative challenges (Act 1 and Act 2) in 2010 and early 2011 to source content for the movie from our online community of actors, artists, musicians and filmmakers. You can view all the creative submissions at hr.reddincthemovie.com.au.

Act 1 was open from Fri Aug 13 2010 to October 31 2010 (Halloween) and drew over 600 submissions from all over the world. You can see the winners of Act 1 here.

Act 2 was open from December 1 2010 to Jan 31 2011 and fielded over 170 submissions from actors who auditioned for four roles in the opening titles of the movie. You can see the winners of Act 2 here.

The following are Frequently Asked Questions about the project.

How can I get involved?
In a feature film world-first Redd Inc. is opening up the creative process of filmmaking and inviting creative people to submit their content to hr.reddincthemovie.com. Two creative challenges (Act 1 and Act 2) have already been held fielding an outstanding array of content from all over the world including filmmaking, acting, art and music. There will be a further creative challenge – Act 3 – which is yet to be announced. If you would like to be notified of the next creative challenge and hear more about this project register here.

What’s the movie about?
Redd Inc. is the story of a capricious, officious and vicious boss (Redd) who traps his victims and forces them to work in an horrific office of his own insane creation. They are tasked with a seemingly impossible job which they must complete or face a grisly “termination”.

Have you made the movie yet?
We shot the movie in March 2011… and it is going to include key moments that have been created by our online community – acting roles, films playing on TV’s, art on the walls, set dressings and music. It’s also got a well-developed screenplay, a well known director and a creative team and cast who are working hard to create a kick ass movie.

Who are the stars of the movie going to be?
Do you mean besides all the good people who submit acting bits? Well… the great thing about horror movies is that they don’t usually have stars in them… they MAKE stars. Johnny Depp’s first effort was “A Nightmare on Elm St” and a few years after that he moved to “21 Jump St”. Jamie Lee Curtis’s first movie was “Halloween”.  You may not know the following stars started out with these movies:

Jennifer Aniston – Leprechaun (1993)
Kevin Bacon – Friday the 13th (1980)
Jack Black – I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998)
Ted Danson – Creepshow (1982)
Leonardo DiCaprio – Critters 3 (1991)
Harrison Ford – The Possessed (1977)
Tom Hanks – He Knows You’re Alone (1980)
Jack Nicholson – The Little Shop of Horrors (1960), The Raven (1963), The Terror (1963)
Brad Pitt – Cutting Class (1989)
John Travolta – The Devil’s Rain (1975), Carrie (1976)
Christopher Walken – The Mind Snatchers (1972)
Renee Zellweger – Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994)
Naomi Watts – Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering (1996)

So the real question here is “when will the actors in this movie become stars?”… Watch this space!

Is there a studio behind this?
This project is not beholden to any major corporation… it is fiercely independent. It is being made by a genuine band of independent film makers who have developed a bold project that we hope thousands will want to get involved in.

Hey Josh,
thanks for your question. Witness statements are open to under 18’s. They give you much more scope for improvisation than the scripted parts. Hope to see your submission up there soon. Here are our acting submission scripts/briefs – http://reddincthemovie.com/Submissions/Acting/

I have been watching horror movies since i was 7 and i Love them. I think that this is an awsome idea. I have always wanted to me an actress and being in a horror movie would be a dream come true. I do have a few questions. How do i submit a video? What do you want me to do on the video? And do you except all people or just size 0-4? It seems these days that people in the movie industry only want modle size women. I look forward to your reply. Thanks.

Hi Bonny,
we’d love you to submit a part for the film! We’re offering webcam acting roles and everyone is welcome – all ages, all sexes, all types. Only stipulation is you have to be over 15, or over 18 for a couple of parts.

Go to our main submission site at http://www.reddincthemovie.com and read the ‘submit’ acting section – it outlines the part. You can video and upload to the site. Hope you give it a try.

Hi there,

my friends and I are very interested in entering the ‘Directing’ part of the competition and we were hoping you could clarify a few details for us before we finalize our scripts for each commercial.

1) Is 30 seconds the absolute maximum for each commercial? Or could they run a little longer, say 45 seconds to a minute?

2) In which order will the commercials play in the film? As it reads on the website the order is: ‘Baby Cage’, ‘Hair Treatment’ then ‘Clinic’. (The reason I ask is because some of our ideas involve referencing one item in the background of a commercial for another one, and we need to know if that item will already be established, in order for the audience to make the connection.

3) PAL or NTSC? SD or HD? (I noticed you mentioned Blu-ray on the website. At present the highest we can shoot is 720p or 1080i. I hope that’s cool?)

Anyway, if you guys could help me out with a few answers we’ll get to work and hopefully create something that’ll make you laugh.

Thanks,
Luke.

Hi Luke,

thanks for getting in touch. The order the commercials will appear in the film will be determined when we are editing. There is no pre-arranged order so go for it – if you have a good idea by all means give it a go. PAL or NTSC is fine and 720p or 1080i also good – 720p probably best. With time length 30 sec is best as this is fairly standard commercial length and will maximise your chances of getting it shown. But if it goes to 45 secs this isn’t a big problem, 1 min is too long though. Looking forward to seeing them!
Peter

Hi Jess, yes we’d love to see makeup artists submit – lots of opportunities for creating gore if that’s your thing in Fake Your Own Death

Are you going to be holding auditions for any of the leading roles or have they already been pre-cast or is the film going to be compilation of just self-made web videos?

Hi Sarah, we are going to be casting the leading roles in February/March so best way to get noticed by the Director is to submit for one of the opening titles parts currently offered at http://www.reddincthemovie.com/submit/Submit-Instructions-for-Roles. The movie is a scripted feature film with moments created for inclusion of web-created content from our creative community.

Hello

I just posted my video as one of the relatives, but the sound is out of sync!! Is there anyway that this can be fixed please?!

Thanks!!

Hi Laura, yes some webcams we are finding have synch issues with YouTube where we store our videos. We can fix it in post, ie. if we cut your clip together or include it in the movie though not possible on the site.

Laura,
yes some webcams and connection speeds cause synch problems – we can fix later if it gets into the movie.
